Update: Whats effecting your trees for 2016.
Emerald Ash Borer |
EAB Cause and EffectHow can EAB kill your Ash tree? It's quite simple, trees are large straws. They move sugar, water, and nutrients through these straws. The EAB larvae eat these straws and the transportation of nutrients and fluid stops--slowly killing the tree. This process is detrimental to ash trees and is best treated early or in prevention. We are able to provide insecticide treatment, which is very successful. By injecting the insecticide into the same straws that the larvae feed on, we are able to kill the feeding insects. As the larvae hatch in late spring and start to feed they do not feed for long before they ingest the insecticide. These insecticide treatments last for two years in the tree.

Magnolia Scale
|
Magnolia Scale Cause and EffectMagnolia Scale really blew up out of no where in 2015. If it is not treated it can actually out right kill Magnolia. It is a tiny insect that lives much of its life under a protective scale. Magnolia scale is a soft insect that sucks plant sap, and excretes large amounts of drippy, sticky honeydew. Honeydew provides an excellent growth medium for sooty mold fungi, and these fungi can give affected leaves and branches a black, sooty appearance. In addition, honeydew and sooty mold can stain lawn furniture and other items in the vicinity of an infested tree, and sugars in honeydew can attract wasps and ants.
Magnolia Scale is treated with the two-step process. The first step is dormant oil to control the eggs on the tree. After the initial step we apply a systemic insecticide to kill the remaining insects as they feed on the sap. This is a very effective way to control this insect and its caustic effects on the plant.
